Most popular user doesn’t mean the most active user
We just added a new feature to FFholic (aka FriendFeedHolic) to track the most active users on FriendFeed.
We calculate an activity point for each FriendFeed user and create the most active users list.
A user’s activity point is the sum of all of his/her comments, likes and entries (published in the last 30 days) multiplied by the point value of each.
Point value of each activity is as follows:
Comments: 4 points (If written to an entry other than yours)
FriendFeed originated entries: 4 points
Other entries: 1 point
Notes:
- Point calculation formula may be changed to better reflect user activity. Please share your ideas to improve our formula.
- Your comment, entry and like counts may not be exactly the same as those on FriendFeed.
So as you can see on the last 30 days’ most active users list, most popular users are not usually the most active users.
For example Robert Scoble; he is the most popular user with his total number of subscribers, but he is the 74th most active user depending on his activity point.
Also, Michael Arrington; he is the second most popular user on FriendFeed but it seems like he is not an active FriendFeed contributor. He is the 1534th most active user on FriendFeed.
But when we check Mona N, she is the 52th most popular user on FriendFeed, but also the 3rd most active user.
You can check out the most active users list here.
